Welcome to Sailability Yarranabbe Branch website

Sailability Yarranabbe (SYB) was born in 2014 out of necessity from the “Sydney Sonar Challenge’ (SSC) which has been in existence since 2002, Our dedication to developing athletes with a disability to sail at the highest level (State & International Competition) in the three person Paralympic Sonar class yacht.

SYB has two very competitive Sonars “SLIPS AUS 716” and “MID WICKET AUS 741” to train and race in. We regularly compete on Sydney Harbor with Sydney Amateurs Sailing Club (SASC) and other major sailing events on Sydney Harbor.

Specialised equipment has been and will continue to be developed to assist all sailors with a disability to perform to the highest standard. Some of this specialized equipment developed to date include; tacking chairs for the skipper, transfer bench for the for’ard hand, fine tune line systems for the main sheet and jib sheets.

We also operate a Coach boat at our facility from the hard stand within Rushcutters Bay to assist with on water training from enthusiastic volunteers and qualified coaches.

Being a Sailability NSW branch we purely rely on donations (tax deductible) and fund raising to maintain our fleet and cover all expenses. We are totally made up from unpaid volunteers and sailors with a passion to help one another.

SYB encourages both disabled people and able body volunteers to join our club, or just to visit and see what we do (by appointment).

Good Sailing
